Chase Ultimate Rewards is one of the most flexible points currencies in the world, and British Airways is one of its transfer partners. For US-based Avios collectors this is a core earning route — but there is an important geographic catch we will be upfront about.

Chase Ultimate Rewards transfer to British Airways Avios at 1:1, in increments of 1,000 points. Transfers are usually instant and, like almost all credit-card transfers into Avios, one-way and irreversible. Once the points land they are Avios and behave exactly like Avios earned any other way.
Never transfer speculatively. Because the move cannot be undone, confirm your reward seat is bookable first, then transfer only the exact number of Avios you need.
You need a Chase card that earns transferable Ultimate Rewards. The main ones are:
Cash-back-only Chase cards cannot transfer to Avios on their own — the points must be combined into a card that holds transferable Ultimate Rewards first.
The Chase Sapphire cards are US products. UK residents cannot apply for them, and the separate Chase UK current account does not offer Ultimate Rewards that transfer to Avios. If you are in the UK, this route is not open to you.
