The best hotel-to-Avios route there is. Transfer in the right size and 60,000 Marriott points become 25,000 Avios. Here is exactly how the bonus works and how to use it.
Marriott Bonvoy is the one hotel programme where transferring to Avios makes real sense, thanks to a permanent bonus on large transfers. Get the transfer size right and you lift the effective rate well above the 3:1 headline.

Marriott Bonvoy converts to Avios at a base 3:1. The clever part is the large-transfer bonus: move exactly 60,000 points in one transaction and you receive 20,000 Avios at 3:1 plus 5,000 bonus Avios — 25,000 Avios in total. That lifts the effective rate to 2.4:1.
Always transfer in exact multiples of 60,000. Each 60,000-point block earns its own 5,000-Avios bonus; odd amounts in between just convert at the plain 3:1 with no bonus.
Because it takes days, this is not a route for grabbing a seat you have just found. Keep a working Avios balance and use Marriott to replenish it, not to make a last-minute booking.
Marriott is the best hotel-to-Avios transfer, but remember Bonvoy points can also be worth a lot as hotel nights. Transfer to Avios when you have surplus points, when you are topping up for a specific redemption, or when a rare airline transfer bonus stacks on top. For the wider comparison, see hotel points to Avios.
Only transfer what you will actually use. Avios can be devalued over time, so do not stockpile far beyond a redemption you are planning.
